Did Sullivan buy Hugill?

Re: Joao Mario
Let’s hope the Hugill fiasco is part of the process where Sullivan realises he could really get his fingers burned in this game if he doesn’t leave it to the pros like Pellegrini.

All he has to do is give the manager a budget and keep his trap shut. Can he do it?

Re: Joao Mario
Funnily enough, I was looking at a PNE board when he signed and I found an old thread where they were talking about him being worth about 8m but, and they literally said this, “we should just wait until the end of the window when some desperate mug will pay 10m.”

Enter Brady and her undermining of the Slimani deal.

Re: Joao Mario
Does anyone really believe we actually paid £9m for Hugill?

Why do you lot lap up their lies?

Re: Joao Mario
25 mil is two and a bit Hugills

Not that any club would be daft enough to sell an established play making international for 25 mi..... oh wait.

Re: Joao Mario
He is the sort that Pellegrini would fancy I would imagine and if his progress continues he improves our midfield.

Hate to say it but we are getting close to £20-£25m being the going rate for a barely above average Prem player.

Re: Joao Mario
Agree he has improved, has shown moments without really standing out. Does he fit in with new mans formation? I´d baulk at 25 mil, he was playing for a contract so would have expected more. Loan again is ideal. Far more important areas to improve first.

Totally agree. He's got better game by game.

Re: Joao Mario
I like him.
I hope Pellegrini likes him, if Pellegrini keeps him, I think it is a sure he is a good player that will have a great career.

Re: Joao Mario
Decent player and i´m sure he´d only get better with better players around him!!....however the stumbling block is the price!

Re: Joao Mario
I'd take him on loan again next season

Few shit performances away from home but on the whole he has improved our midfield

Re: Joao Mario
I wouldn't be surprised to see us take him on loan for another season. Inter want to recoup their outlay, but I don't think anyone will be interested in laying out 40m on him, 25/30m is about standard for a good central midfielder these days, but I don't think he has quite proved himself in the PL yet.

Re: Joao Mario
He was hardly alone with his inconsistent performances was he
?

There is a fundamental issue at the club.....crap management !

Re: Joao Mario
I'm hoping that this years transfer fee's are not as ridiculous as last seasons where we saw Danny Drinkwater move to Chelsea for £35mil (I see reports we are linked with him for £30mil) If the fees are the same as last season Sullivan and co are going to have to dig very deep.
Based on last seasons fees if we pick him up for 15mil it will be a bargain, however it really depends on what is in our kitty a new C.B. would be my first choice (selling Tomkins for only £10 mil seems a little naive now)

Re: Joao Mario
We might get him at a bargain price given that Inter won't want him back, but I wouldn't offer more than £10m. Decent, skilful player but lacks strength and pace.

Re: Joao Mario
Spunking 25m on Mario is absurd unless our transfer budget is 150m.

If we bought Butland, Dendoncker, the Fulham pair, Mawson and Shaqiri and had money left over then yes. That assumes we keep Hernandez too.

Eerie Descent 7:15 Mon May 7
Re: Joao Mario
Because most of our midfielders are so fucking shit technically, people are seeing him as the answer to our problems, but he's not. He's had a few decent moments, but in the main he is ineffectual, and we need much better.

Sven Roeder 7:10 Mon May 7
Re: Joao Mario
Brings to mind FEGHOULI who ironically scored in the last game of last season.

Hasn't pulled up any trees and you wonder whether he can kick on given the experience he has now got.
Not sure I'd want to bet the fee that Inter will want given they paid stupid money.
